How To Overcome Depression

How to Overcome Depression

Today, I’d like to share an experience from the weekend.

I was strongly hit by depression, and unfortunately, I allowed it to affect my mindset, leading to negative consequences for my body.

Reflecting on this, I’ve realized the importance of being aware of our thoughts and feelings, particularly in challenging situations.

Despite attempting to identify triggers, I couldn’t pinpoint them, letting negative thoughts take control.

I’ve come to understand the strong connection between emotions and thoughts.

What we think influences how we feel, and those feelings shape our actions and outcomes.

Recognizing this, I’ve decided to be more conscious of my thoughts, regularly asking myself, “What am I thinking?” to foster self-awareness.

Making questioning a habit can help prevent me from falling into depression or anxiety.

Here are some example questions to ask yourself when facing depression or anxiety:

  • Why am I having these negative thoughts?
  • These thoughts are making me feel down and depressed, so I am not going to let them take over me.
  • What thoughts make me feel good and happy? Replace negative thoughts with positive ones.
  • Your brain resists adapting to new patterns, but consistent practice is essential for changing your thinking habits. For instance, my mind tends to dwell on past events that make me feel down and bring the anxiety or negativity. I aim to shift my focus positively by envisioning future career success.
  • Cultivating a habit of positive thinking requires practice, allowing your brain to adjust to this new, constructive pattern. Be patient and keep practicing.
