Hello everyone.
Let’s dive into immediate happiness tactics.
My inspiration came from a podcast episode featuring Mo Gawdat, the former Chief Business Officer at Google’s moonshot factory and bestselling author on happiness.
In his book “Solve for Happy,” Gawdat explores methods for finding joy, particularly after experiencing personal loss.
Gawdat’s concept of happiness deeply resonated with me. He emphasized that happiness is a decision we make regardless of our circumstances. Additionally, I found that implementing his concept into my daily practice further boosted my happiness. For instance, I verbally affirmed to myself, repeating phrases like ‘I am happy,’ ‘I have everything and am healthy, my life is wonderful,’ and read out my gratitude list. Instantly, I felt a shift in my mood—a powerful realization that happiness truly is within our control.
Another compelling point Gawdat made is about the weakness of our brains.
He explained that our brains often misguide us, thinking they are always right when, in fact, they can lead us astray. This notion fascinated me: just because our brains believe they’re correct doesn’t mean they are.
Ultimately, it’s our choice how we perceive situations, whether we focus on negativity or embrace positivity.
Gawdat shared a touching example from his own life to illustrate this point. Despite the heartbreaking loss of his son to illness, he chose to cherish the precious 21 years they had together rather than give in to grief. His perspective completely changed my outlook — we have the power to choose happiness over misery, even when facing difficult times.
What I’ve learned from Gawdat’s speech reinforces my belief that happiness is a choice, regardless of circumstances. Rather than allowing my thoughts to dictate my emotions, I’m committed to taking control and choosing happiness whenever possible. Ultimately, it’s my life, and I have the power to make it happy.
