When I feel stuck or uncertain, I often ask myself a simple question: What do I want in my life? This basic inquiry pushes me to think about my deepest desires and dreams. For me, the answer is clear: I desire peace, comfort, relaxation, fulfillment, and a meaningful life. This realization motivated me to work towards one of my biggest goals: owning a home. After diligently saving for a decade, my partner and I finally bought our first house. The sense of stability and fresh beginnings it brings is incredible.
Now that I’ve achieved this milestone, I’m eagerly planning the next phase of my life. I start by asking myself: What’s next? How do I see my future? What steps do I need to take to secure my financial well-being, both now and in retirement? These questions guide me as I strive to balance work and personal life. I’ve decided to reduce my work hours from four days to three, even though it may mean less income. I’m willing to make this trade-off for a more fulfilling lifestyle. With the extra time, I plan to focus on activities that bring me joy, learning, and community involvement.
One of my previous clients shared valuable advice with me before he passed away: “Don’t work too hard, allow yourself to be happier, don’t take things too seriously, do something nice for yourself. I know you have been supporting your parents financially for all of your life, which is great, but you should invest in yourself too as life is short, and you only have one life, so make the most of it.” I will try to relax more and prioritize my happiness.
