Yesterday morning, my partner and I volunteered as ice hockey coaches for children at the ice rink. My desire to be on the ice was one of the reasons I decided to volunteer. However, it turned out to be a turning point in my life.
First and foremost, I felt truly alive. I hadn’t intended to give all my energy to coaching, but spontaneously, I gave everything I had—skills, experience, and energy. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I laughed a lot, engaged deeply with the kids, and felt as if it was a meditation period.
After volunteering, we were both exhausted with no energy left, but my heart was full of love and satisfaction.
I loved it.
Giving and helping others is such a fulfilling experience. I remembered when I wished to have private ice hockey training but couldn’t afford it. I want to help others who are in the same situation as I was.
I can’t express enough how satisfying it is to give to others.
I can’t wait for next Sunday to feel this again. Helping others gives me one of the reasons I feel alive.
