How I Stopped Fearing What Others Think

A while ago, my doctor friend said something that really stayed with me.

She asked, “Celine, why do you care so much about what other people think or whether they approve of you?”

I said, “I don’t know… I just naturally seek recognition or attention.”

Then she replied, “What if you just stop fearing their judgement? Let them think whatever they want — that’s their business, not yours. You can’t change it, and it doesn’t really affect your life.”

She was right. I can’t control what others think, and it doesn’t really impact on my life”

Since then, I’ve been practising this mindset — telling myself, “It’s okay if they don’t like me. It doesn’t bother me. I can live without their approval.”

Surprisingly, I’ve been feeling freer and more at peace.

That’s what freedom feels like — not needing anyone’s approval to be myself.
