Life Is Only Ever “Now”
Sometimes I stop and remind myself,
Me: “Life isn’t yesterday. Life isn’t tomorrow.”
Myself: “Life is happening right now.”
Life is just a series of moments, like small dots called now.
The past is already gone.
The future hasn’t arrived yet.
The only place I can live is here.
This is one of the biggest lessons I learned from the book The Courage to Be Disliked.
Me: “But what if I’m not enough as I am?”
Myself: “The courage to be normal is the first step.”
Self acceptance changes everything.
When you accept yourself as you are, the way you see the world starts to shift.
You stop chasing approval.
You stop living someone else’s life.
The book emphasises that happiness comes from contributing to others.
Not pleasing everyone.
Not being perfect.
But contributing in your own way.
The book reminded me of this too,
Only I can give meaning to my life.
No one else can do that for me.
Me: “What if people don’t like me?”
Myself: “That’s okay. I’m not here to live their life.”
When I stopped being afraid of being disliked, I started to feel truly alive.
People became my comrades, not my judges.
The world felt less scary, more open, more beautiful.
And this line stayed with me the most,
“If I change, the world changes.”
No one else can change my world for me.
That responsibility is mine.
The last sentence of the book says it perfectly,
“The world is simple, and life is too.”
