“I just woke up… but my mind and body wanted to go back to bed.”
That used to be me almost every morning.
Then I started observing my mum. She wakes up at 4:20 am.
As soon as she wakes up, she doesn’t lie there. She prays first, then starts moving straight away, sweeping the garden, unloading the dishes, and going to the early prayer service at church.
Movement is how her body wakes up.
Watching her made me think,
“Maybe the body wakes up through movement.”
So I tried it.
Now I wake up around 5 am and, instead of lying in bed, I get up and move. I sweep the living room, unload the dishes, roll up the blinds, and make a cup of tea.
And something interesting happens.
My body wakes up.
My mind wakes up.
No forcing.
Some mornings, my body still says,
“Let’s go back to bed.”
And I answer,
“Let’s move first.”
The key I’ve learned is simple:
Move your body as soon as you wake up.
Don’t wait to feel awake.
Movement creates wakefulness.
Simple, but it works. 🤗
