How I Found More Energy: My Personal Journey

After feeling low on energy, I realized I was focusing too much on exercise. I ignored signs from my body like tiredness, brain fog, and low motivation. I thought constant exercise would boost my energy, but it actually drained me and made me less productive. I would end up binge-watching Netflix all day after pushing myself too hard.

Looking at my routine, I saw I wasn’t balancing my life or listening to my body. For example, my body often wanted rest in the morning, but I would push myself to exercise more, using my willpower for the wrong things.

Now, I’ve started balancing my routine better and paying attention to what my body needs. Yesterday, I played ice hockey for two hours, did yoga, and lifted weights. This morning, I wanted to swim but chose to rest and write this blog instead. Taking breaks has helped me recover and gain more energy. Balancing exercise with other activities has made a big difference.

I also noticed I was missing out on social time, so I’ve made changes. Now, I message friends weekly, volunteer as a ice hockey coach, attend community events, and organize hockey games.

Moreover, I drink protein shake regularly which helps to build muscle. Muscle gives you energy too. I also realized that thinking of the event which never happened drained me.

The most important lesson is to listen to your body. Currently, I work out three times a week, go to body combat classes twice, swim once, and play ice hockey or inline hockey twice. I also study or write four times a week. Changing my long-time habit of heavy exercise wasn’t easy, but I’m making small adjustments.

Although I still focus on exercise, I’m more mindful of balance and will keep adjusting my routine to include more social activities.

What about you? What does your daily routine look like? Do you need to make any changes? Feel free to share in the comments!
